THAT DAY

The Doors play at the Aquarius theatre, July 21, 1969

Since the incident in Miami, which occurred on March 1, 1969, the promoters frightened by the reputation of the group and the setbacks of Jim Morrison, cancel one by one the dates of the DOORS tour.

Despite these multiple cancellations, the DOORS managed to give two concerts at the Aquarius Theater in Hollywood on July 21, 1969 and the next day. Morrison hidden behind large dark glasses appears unrecognizable, displaying a few extra pounds and a shaggy beard...

Repainted in 1968 to display psychedelic colors, the place is occupied by the troupe of the musical "Hair". After being abandoned for a long time, the former Aquarius Theater returned to its bright 1960s colors in 2018 for the filming of "Once Upon A Time In...Hollywood", the director's 9th feature film. Quentin Tarantino.

The Aquarius Theater performances are the first concerts recorded for the "Absolutely Live" album. Both performances were published in full by Bright Midnight Archives in 2001 and 2002 and are now almost impossible to find at reasonable prices.
