THAT DAY

Recording of the jam "Rock is dead", February 25, 1969
On February 25, 1969, while they were in the middle of a recording session for the album "The Soft Parade", the DOORS decided to take a lunch break in a Mexican restaurant not far from the studio. They eat and drink copiously there...

Back at the Elektra studios, the group then launched into a long improvisation lasting more than an hour, on "the death of rock"!
Jim Morrison will also recite a few passages from this improvisation, less than a week later, during the famous concert in Miami.

The 'Rock is Dead' recording is known to collectors for appearing on numerous bootlegs, but the full session has only been available since 2019 with the fiftieth anniversary edition of 'The Soft Parade'.
