MYTHICAL PLACES

Dennis Jacob's apartment - 14 Westminster Ave. Venice, CA

Located just a few meters from Venice Beach, the building at 14 Westminster Avenue housed Dennis Jacob's apartment in 1965.

Dennis Jacob was a friend of Jim Morrison, he is said to have read and owned more books than Morrison, which most certainly represents an impressive collection of books.

It was on the roof of this apartment that Jim was graciously lodged by his friend Dennis during the summer of 1965 after graduating from UCLA and announcing to his classmates that he was leaving for New York, which he did not ultimately will not.

There, Jim experimented with the effects of LSD by writing numerous poems. He imagined in his head a whole Rock concert, it is also on the roof of this building that the first verses of "Moonlight Drive" were probably written.

Today, the building has been transformed into a hotel. This one is also called: "The Morrison Apartments"!
